PIPE PROCUREMENT / ASTM

Seamless Carbon & Alloy Steel Pipe

Compare ASTM A106 Gr.B carbon and A335 alloy seamless steel pipe. Review grade, OD, wall or schedule, length and EN 10204 3.1 MTC requirements for export.

Choose by specification and service conditions—not by the word “seamless” alone. The listed A106 Gr.B and A335 products represent different steel grades and service requirements.

Do not confuse seamless and welded grades

ASTM A53 includes both seamless and welded pipe types. API 5L may also specify different manufacturing processes; listing a standard does not establish that a pipe is seamless. Confirm the actual product standard and manufacturing method before ordering.

Seamless pipe buying questions

Does ASTM A106 cover welded pipe?

No. ASTM A106 is a seamless carbon steel pipe specification, commonly used for high-temperature service.

Is ASTM A335 the same material as A106?

No. A335 covers seamless ferritic alloy-steel pipe for high-temperature service. Compare the grade, heat treatment and application rather than treating it as a direct A106 substitute.

What should I include in a seamless pipe RFQ?

Specify the relevant standard, grade, outside diameter, wall or Schedule, length, quantity, testing or MTC requirements and destination port.
